Kaoru Sato,
Principal CD, New York - Tokyo
Kaoru Sato joined Design Machine as Creative Director
in
1999. Here she is responsible for a wide variety of projects
ranging from packaging design, corporate identity, editorial
and promotional publications in both web and print. Besides
leading Design Machine's creative team on projects for such
clients as The Art Directors Club, Dell Computer, IBM, Janou Pakter, Orbitz,
Russell Simmons and Shiseido, Kaoru edited
and art directed "Subtraction: Aspects of Essential Design"
published by Rotovision (UK) in 2000.
Prior to Design Machine, Kaoru Sato worked at Future Brand
as a senior design director (1996 - 1999). Her responsibilities included
concept and design development, art direction
and design management on projects for such clients as Venator
Group, GM, Malaysia Airlines, New Court, Rogers, Scudder Investments,
Telefonica, Terra, Wilmington Trust, Zurich
Before joining Future Brand Kaoru Sato worked at Studio Morris, Access
Factory and Honey (Japan). Her clients included Artwalk NY, Cowen &
Company, Dow Jones, Hot Sox, JM Lynne, Morgan Stanley, Reuters New Media,
Toscorp/Tuscan Square, Agfa, Brother, Epson, Takeo Kikuchi, Uchida Yoko.
Kaoru received her MFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in
1995. Prior to that she received her BFA at Tokyo National University
of Art and Music.
